マトリックスがパクッただの何だのであらためて評価されている映画。
でも、私が当時これを見て、一番印象に残ったのは音楽でした。

日本人が、日本の民謡の発声で、
ブルガリアン・ポリフォニーのように声を重ねて唄う。

その発想だけで、これだけのインパクトのある音像が作られるというのは
眼からウロコ的。

「謡」と名づけられたこの曲が、数ヴァージョン入っていますが、
私はそれだけで満足です。
曲は、同じ手法で作られた「イノセンス」の｢傀儡謡」を凌いでいると思います。

大音量でどうぞ。荘厳とさえ言えます。

このCDのライナーだったか、攻殻の音楽は「川井憲次らしさを極力排除して…」とありました。その通りパトレイバーのバリバリ川井憲次調の曲を聴き慣れた私にはとても新鮮でした。エスニックな楽器を多用し、民謡の女声が鮮烈に響き渡ったりと不思議な雰囲気あふれるサントラです。ちゃんとしたオーディオでどんと鳴らすと空気感がすごいですよ~

アニメには特に興味がない人間です。本作品も偶然テレビで見ました。サントラを買ったのはテーマ曲の『謡』を聴く為だけ。テレビから流れるこの楽曲の荘厳さにビックリし、最初は「インドネシア語か？(←根拠なし)」と思った歌詞がよく聞くと日本語、それも古語であるらしいことに唸りました。『吾が舞えば　麗し女　酔いにけり／吾が舞えば　照る月　響むなり／結婚に　神降りて』と流れていく歌詞ですが、川井憲次さんという方は「図書館で一生懸命『万葉集』等から大和言葉を探し、文法も研究した」とのこと。短い詞ですが、労作です。
歌を担当したのは民謡歌手の方々とか。日本の歌い手でよそに出して恥ずかしくないのは民謡歌手くらいであらう、とは昔から感じていたものですから、さらに唸るものがございます。アメリカの某サイトでもこのテーマ曲が賞賛されていましたね。この『謡』が３バージョン収録されています。この三曲を聞く為だけにサントラを買っても全く損はありません。
