この本により、クリスチャンとして洗礼を受けました。
とても思い出深い本です。
仕事など色々な悩み、苦しみがあったとき、
何の気なしに購入した本書のことばが私の心に深く響きました。

自分がしたいこと、望むこと、それがかなえられないこと、
それらをすべて受け入れる。
神を信じて生きるとは、今がどうであっても、それが自分に
とって必要なことだと信じること。

なかなか難しいことなのですが、この本と聖書と教会のお陰で
苦しいことも、神様からの恵みと思い、受け取ることができるように
少しずつなりました。

シスター渡辺和子さんの本は他にも何冊か持っていますが、
彼女そのものが謙遜な方で、低いところから語りかけてくださいます。
どんな雑務にも愛を込める時、そこにいるだろうという人のことを思うこと、
そのエピソードを読み、ああ、自分も時間を無駄にしている、
神様にこの時間、愛をささげることができるのに、と思います。

人生はいつかは死で終わります。
いつまでも残るのは、何を得たかではなく、その人が何を残したか、
それは見えるものでなく、心、誰かのこころに何を残せるかです。
それを教えてくれた本書にただただ感謝です。

気付かない身近な幸せ。また、一般的の良く言われたり、本やテレビでも時々でてくる他人の幸せに、その時、自分にも当てはまると思ってもすぐに忘れてしまう幸せ。少し見えているのに、その少しで満足して、何時しか消えていく幸せ。人が老いて死を意識したときに見つかる幸せ。幸せは自分で作ったり、見つけたり、考えたりするモノかも。そんな事をこの本を読みながら考えた。

幸せ探しはこのような本を時間をおいて何度か読み直していくうちに少しずつ人に消えない幸せになっていくのかも。この本を手にされた方は一度読むだけでなく、何度でも読んで欲しい。

　「隣人愛」ー自分を愛するように人を愛せよ
これは聖書の中の言葉であるが、
シスター・セントジョンの手になるこの本の中には、
日常生活の中で「小さな幸せ」を見つけるための珠玉の言葉が詰まっている。
　心が疲れた時に当書をパラリと開くと、悩みも吹き飛んでしまう。
ひと言一言が優しく心に響き、明日への活力ともなる。
