初期のみゆきさんのイメージが色濃く出ているアルバムです。
当時のみゆきさんの歌は「暗い」と言われがちでしたが、
このアルバムをじっくりと聴いてみると、暗いと言うより、
自分の心に忠実だったんだというのがわかります。
しかも、今となってはその思いも切ないものばかりだとわかります。

初めて聴く人は、「元気ですか」「怜子」の連続に驚かれることでしょう。
「元気ですか」は完全な朗読ですし、電話で話している風ではありますが、
実際には自分の思いの丈を切々と述べている曲で、
BGMとして流れてくる有名なオルガン曲も、
実は練習しているだけで、途中で自分の演奏が気に入らないのか、
楽譜を苛立ってめくる音まで入っているという代物です。
２曲目は切れ目なく前奏もなく「怜子」と叫ぶ歌声だけで始まり、
ものすごいインパクトがあります。

私が好きな曲は、ギター伴奏であっさりと歌われる
「ミルク３２」と「お前の家」ですが、とっても切ないんだけど、
同時に穏やかで人肌のぬくもりの感じられる名曲です。
これ以上淋しい曲があるのかと思わせる「海鳴り」もとてもいいできです。

「化粧」や金八先生で使われた「世情」は、いずれもとても有名で、
アピール力が強く、思い出深い人も多い曲だと思いますが、
サウンドが一昔前の響きがしていて、少し古く感じます。
「あほう鳥」もいい曲でありながら、少しサウンドが古いのですが、
後に出たライブアルバム「歌暦」で、とてもうまくリメイクされています。

なんせ最初の大ヒット曲「わかれうた」も入っている
みゆきさんの初期代表的アルバムなのです。
ここ１０年くらいで彼女のファンになられた方は必携です。

このアルバムは、「世情」一曲を聴くためだけに買っても後悔しません。
今のポピュラー音楽で、キーがマイナーな曲なんてこれ以外あるんでしょうか？
歌詞が持つテーマの重さにピッタリのメロディーで、「何度も聴きたくなる曲」ではありませんが、聴くと背筋がシャキッとします。

学生時代死ぬほど聞きました。
なぜか「おまえの家」が大好きです。
情景が浮かんできて。今でも聞くと当時1979年を思い出します。
