徳川 宗英
田安徳川家第十一代当主。1929年1月30日英国ロンドン生まれ。学習院を経て、慶応大学工学部卒業後、石川島重工業に入社。機関設計部、ボイラ設計部勤務を経て、ボイラ営業部長、海外事業本部副本部長、IHIエンジニアリングオーストラリア社長、石川島播磨重工業理事・営業本部副本部長・関西支社長を歴任し、90年石川島タンク建設副社長に就任。95年に退職ののち、静岡日伊協会名誉顧問に就任。全国東照宮連合会顧問。社団法人霞会館評議員。社団法人尚友倶楽部評議員(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

前作は読んでいませんが、この本はちっとも「内緒話」ではありません。
そもそも徳川の人間が敵将について「内緒話」をするという企画自体に無理があるでしょう。その結果、戦国時代から明治初めまでの歴史上の様々なエピソードを並べただけの本になっています。また噂話程度の内容を考証もせずに載せているのも気になるところです。そのため、単なる歴史の雑学本でしかないでしょう。
もっともタイトルに「歴史の雑学」と記載されていれば、期待外れといった印象は持たなかったとは思いますが。

前作「徳川四百年の内緒話」は、徳川家にまつわる「ヘェー」な話だったが、今回は織田信長や豊臣秀吉などから西郷隆盛までの徳川家のライバル達にまつわる話だ。著者が本物の徳川さん（徳川御三卿筆頭の田安徳川家現当主）だけあって、面白さも的を得ている。それにしても家康が最も恐れたのが真田一族だったとは・・・・。軽いタッチで戦国から幕末へかけての程よい歴史の入門書である。次作は、ぜひ大奥についても詳しく書いて欲しい。それにしても一度、著者の徳川さんのお顔を拝見したいものである。
