海外の事件をいろいろ取り上げているが、ほとんどは著者自身の取材にもとづいた記述ではないことが明らかであるにも関わらず、参考文献がほとんど挙げられていない。そのため、どこまでが真実でどこまでが著者の思い込みなのか、不明確である。

また、決めつけ・矛盾・根拠不明な記述があまりにも多く、そのことが本書の信憑性をいっそう低くしている。環境ホルモンによるとされる生物のメス化を例に挙げて、「ペニスが小さくなってきたワニの出現は、ペドフィルが増えるという警告なのだ」と述べている（１１５頁）のはほんの一例。とりわけ、同性愛者に対する差別的な記述や、同性愛者とペドフィルを結びつけようとする記述の多さは犯罪的ですらある。

せいぜいどんな事件があったかというインデックスとして使えるぐらいで、本書にもとづいて個々の事件について語ることはできない。同様に、本書を読んでもペドフィルの実態は何ひとつ見えてこず、かえって誤った認識を広めるおそれがあるので注意が必要である。

幼児を狙った殺人から売春の斡旋、監禁や汚職など
様々な形で幼児性愛という病がからむ十近くの事件の詳細が
載っていて、「幼児性愛の歴史」といった趣になっています。
幼児性愛者の心理などにはあまり触れませんが、
事件を淡々と綴るだけでなく、ひとつひとつの事件に対して
著者の分析や問題点の提示なども含まれているので
幼児性愛という病について真剣に考えながら読み進めることができました。
