面白い。投資銀行業務の教科書のよう。国際的で、刺激的、繁忙で、競争の厳しい投資銀行の世界に自分も一員となっているような、そんな臨場感があって読める本。

この文庫は2005年11月にダイヤモンド社から刊行された単行本を文庫化したものです
訂正や加筆はないようで、記載されていません。

裁定取引だとか、コール、プットオプション等、経済新聞やユースで見たり聞いたり
する言葉が頻繁に出てきます。
自身で株や為替取引をされているなら、これらの用語もすんなり理解できるかもしれ
ませんが、投資にあまり力を入れていない方々には聞いたことがあるけど、よくわか
らないって方が多いと思います。私自身がそうです。

しかし、不思議とこの小説を通して今まで分からなかった部分がわかってきました。
よく「漫画でわかる○○」などというタイトルがありますが、この小説にそんなサブ
タイトルを付けるとすれば、「小説でわかる投資銀行」ではないでしょうか。

上巻の巻末には金融経済用語集が付いており、少しくらい用語が分からなくてもでも
楽しめると思います。

物語は実際に起こった経済的イベントが時系列で発生し、そこに書かれている人や企業
もほとんど実名です。実名でない部分も容易にそれが誰を、どの企業を言っているのか
が分かります。
物語は1985年から2003年まで、その間に起こった様々な出来事……
日本のバブルや911などの大きな節目、それらが物語のなかで展開され、それが事実な
だけに臨場感ある作品になったと思いました。

金融業界を背景とした小説としては、高杉良、幸田真音、橘玲などのものを
読んできたが、そのいずれのものよりリアリティがある、と感じた。
金融業界、とりわけ外資系を内側から観察した作者ならではの作品だろう。


上述の作者の作品を読んで好感を持った方には、本書を強くお薦めしたい。
