著者略歴 (「BOOK著者紹介情報」より)

菊池 哲男
1961年、東京生まれ。立教大学理学部物理学科卒。これまで山岳・写真雑誌やカレンダー、ポスター等に多くの作品を発表する。山岳スキーの分野でもヨーロッパアルプスの最高峰モンブランを始め、モンテローザやオートルート、そしてカナダのロジャースパスなど国内外で300ルートを越える滑降取材を行う。2007年、長野県白馬村和田野に常設の「菊池哲男山岳フォトアートギャラリー」がオープン。日本写真家協会(JPS)会員(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

山岳写真のファンとして菊池さんは迫力ある山の風景を写し止める技術では抜きんでていると思っています。今回初めて菊池さんの写真集を購入しました。

書店でめくってみると最初の数ページは夕方の風景で銀塩撮影が主でした。それで購入を決めたのですが、帰って全て目を通してがっかりしました。デジタルカメラを使っているのは良いとしても、画質が悪すぎます。D3のムック本に掲載されていた菊池さんの八ヶ岳の夜景は本当に美しいと思ったのですが、この写真集のデジタル写真は残念です。

最近、星空の写真集をよく見かけようになりました。
この写真集もタイトルに惹かれて購入しましたが、これは星空ではなく山から俯瞰した夜の地上の写真がメインと感じます。
もっと星空の写真を期待したのですが、星よりも地上の街の彩りの方が目につきます。

好みが分かれるところですが、写真の彩度が高めで優しい色づかいでない気がします。
タイトルのロゴのような癒し系を期待してはいけません。
価格もちょっと高めなので万人におすすめとは・・・。

当たり前のテーマに大味な作品群。印刷の状態も良くないようだ。
目新しさがほしかった。
