　空から降り注ぐソフトボール大の球体から生まれた寄生生物。彼らの目的は人間の脳を乗っ取ること。主人公「泉新一」も彼ら寄生生物により寄生されたが、偶然のも脳ではなく右手に寄生された！ここから奇妙な共生をするはめになった新一と、寄生生物との戦いは始まる・・・

　ＳＦのノリで始まるこの物語だが、あまりにもリアルに感じられる。そしてなによりも読ませる！だんだんハマっていく自分がいた。ラストまで予想のつかない、飽きさせないストーリー。私が最も評価したいのは鮮明に記憶に残る、展開のもっていきかたである。
　

　社会にも多大な影響を与えた作品だけに、とにかく一度読んでみることを薦める。言葉では言い表せない感情がこみ上げてくること間違いなしの作品だ。

『寄生獣』は、永井豪先生の『デビルマン』へのオマージュとして生まれた作品です。
……と言い切ってしまうと、岩明氏のファンの方に怒られそうですが、やはり『デビルマン』の影響なくして、『寄生獣』という作品は誕生し得なかったと思います。
ま、岩明氏自身、『デビルマン』のトリビュートコミック『ネオデビルマン』にも進んで参加をされていたぐらいなので、影響を受けていた事実を隠しも、否定もしないでしょう。
両作品を比べた時、『デビルマン』の壮絶なラストに比べ、『寄生獣』のラストには、少なからず不満を感じました。
勿論、好みの問題であり、人によって感じ方は違うと思いますが、「あくまで物語の完成を目指す」と岩明氏が語っていただけに、
正直、肩透かしを食らったような印象を受けたものです。
あくまで個人的な意見ですが『寄生獣』のハイライトとも言えるのは、ラストではなく、この完全版6巻収録の第48話『ただいま』だと思っています。
逆に言えば、この48話の印象が強すぎて、これ以降、最終回までの展開に物足りなさを感じてしまうのかもしれません。
とにかく、私にとっての『寄生獣』は、この48話に尽きるのです！
田村玲子を通じての母親とシンイチとの邂逅、田村玲子の独白、フラッシュバックする幼い日の記憶、生と死に纏わる記憶が、シンイチの心に引き起こす変化。このシーンは、漫画史に残る名シーンだと思います。
漫画でなければ、こういう表現は出来ない。漫画でしか、この表現は成り立ち得ないけれども、その漫画表現においてさえ、かつて無い程の異質の感動を与えてくれるシーンだと思います。
本当に何回読み返したか判りませんが、何回読んでもこの感動は薄れません。
常に新鮮な感動を与えてくれるという意味では、『デビルマン』のラストさえ陵駕するかもしれません。
未読の方は是非読んでみて下さい(勿論、最初から)。
