　1987〜89年に全5巻で出版された「ビンボー生活の素晴らしさ」を描いた一冊。
時代はバブル絶頂なのに、主人公の部屋にはテレビもなく、風呂無し、トイレ共同という下宿に住んでいる。
連載時の掲載誌である「モーニング」には、『ハートカクテル』（わたせせいぞう）が同時掲載されているのに
この生活感の違いは何なのだ！
　それでも、多くの読者から支持されていた理由は、主人公コースケが「自由な時間を、自由に過ごす」
というお金では買えない本当の贅沢者だったからだ。
　ただ、空を流れる雲を見て1日を過ごすことができる「心の贅沢」を得ていたコースケは、
どんなバブル長者よりも憧れの的であったのだ。

　本書は節約ノウハウ本ではありません。
主人公コースケの東京暮らしの何気ない日々を綴ったエッセイのような漫画です。
コースケはお金がなく六畳のアパート暮らしですが、
何気ない日常の中に大きな幸せを見出し、貧乏をひとつのファッションとして
幸せな生活をしています。コースケなりの人脈を多く抱え、みんな助け合って
生き生きとした生活を送っています。
都会生活の中でも人間として大切な人情だったり、心の機微だったりしたものが
はんわかと描かれ現代版徒然草といったところでしょうか。
是非、ご購読をお勧めします。

主人公はお金はほとんど持っていませんが、のびのびと幸せに、
そして楽しく生きています。人の役にも立っています。
私は、２０数万円の月給にこだわって、つまらない会社勤めをしている
自分が恥ずかしくなりました。
