「おわりに」には、「本書は高等教育にかかわる人を読者として想定したもの」と書かれています。
確かにそういった内容ですが、大学教育と社会(世相)との関連、日米の相違、大学教育の抱える問題点など、関係者でなくても面白く読めました。また社員教育や新入社員の採用にも役立つところもあり、特に後半は大変参考になりました。
蛇足:今もし大学に入学できるなら、当時のように遊ばず、もっと勉強するだろうと思います。

東大の高等教育研究者が書いた新書ということで、予約して購入！

でも・・・

大学で教えている者からすれば、大学の外側を走りながら何かぶつぶつ言っているような本のような気が･･･。本書に斬新な教授法を期待していたわけではないけれど、大学のカリキュラムにおいてある理念なり内容なり方法なりが必要だと言おうとするのならば、その根拠を示してほしいのだが、結局著者自身が「詳細にデータを示せず残念」みたいなことが書いてあって、読者としては肩透かしを喰らってしまう。

大学教育、高等教育とは何かということを考えさせられる書。この手の本をいくつか読んだが、本書がもっとも文章がこなれていて、読んでいて詰まったりするところがなかった。
さて、どの世界にもやる気のある人と、そうではない人がいる。学生こそやる気の大小が在学中の態度にも現れてくると思う。そのパターンが18ｐに図とともに４つにパターン化されていておもしろかった。これから大学全入時代が来る。どうやったら、このパターンの中の疎外型を少なくするかが重要だと感じた。疎外型はたぶん中退して終わり、ということになりかねず、最も情報がとりにくいだろう。
大学教員よりも、むしろ大学事務の方が読んだほうがよいと思う。大学という組織がわかるはずである。
