この人は本当に靴が好きなようです。
このような人が世の中にはいるものなのだな~と感心しながら
読みました。小学生のころから靴つくりの仕事に興味をもち、
みようみまねで妹たちの洗礼用の白い靴を作ってしまったというのですからやはり普通の人ではありません★

本当に靴が好きで好きで仕方がないという気持ちが、淀川長治さんが映画のことを語るのと同じような感じで
切々と伝わってきます。
いい靴の選び方など一般の靴の選び方などの本には載っていない独自の見方がすばらしく、靴が好きな人には特におすすめです。

少し値段は張りますが高価な靴を買って失敗することに比べれば
安いものです(この本を読んでどうしてもフェラ!ガモの靴が欲しくなってしまったりすれば話は別ですが）
オードリーヘップバーンなど同世代の有名人顧客の写真も満載で、写真集としてもすばらしい1冊です★

私はフェラガモの靴をもっていませんし、
フェラガモ氏に興味があったわけでもありません。
ただ、靴と向き合う人生を過ごした彼が言う
靴選びが気になっただけです。

靴を選ぶ時になによりも大事なのは
デザインではない。
らしい。

窮屈な靴を履くと、歩いていて疲れやすく、
早く家へ帰って脱ぎたくなります。
楽しみを減らす事になってしまう。
私はずっと24センチの靴をベースに選んで
来ましたが、そうではないんだなぁと。
フィットする靴を選ぶためには１日かけて
探さなきゃ…。

土ふまずを支えてくれる事。
試しに履いたとき、店の外まで歩いてみること。
窮屈な靴を無理して履いても決してフィットする靴にはならないこと。
自分が思い込んでいたサイズに取りつかれたままでいないこと。
つま先はゆったり、幅はきっちり。

これをベースに買い物します。

フェラガモの名前は知ってましたけど、まさかこんなに苦労なさっていとは！　フェラガモさんはほんとうの靴職人だったのですね。靴の修理屋に徹すればリスクもないし、お金にも困らない。でもそれではいやだったのです。アメリカでも靴と人間の足のことを勉強し続け、やはり手で作らなければ、ほんとうによい靴はできない、と機械大量生産に背を向けます。自分で学校を開き、手作り職人たちを育てたのです。そのガッツ、パワーには頭がさがります。機械生産に頼れば楽に儲けられるのですから。ほんものの芸術家ですよね。ちょっとおしゃれな靴をデザインできる人、ではなかったのです。不撓不屈の精神で、自分の作品をつくりつづけ、売っていった人です。奥さんをもらったのも、偶然ではなく、「お嫁さんを見つけよう」とスカウトキャラバンを組んだ結果。どうやって見つけたと思います？　すてきな男性に見初められたそのきっかけは？　そして奥様の意外なその後とは？
