1963年、東京生まれ。慶応大学法学部卒業。1991年、『プライベート・ゲイ・ライフ』(学陽書房)を書いてカムアウト。その後、旺盛な著作活動を続ける一方で、大学で非常勤講師を務めたり、講演活動で全国を回るなど、ゲイ、そしてクィア・ムーブメントの先駆者的役割を果たす。雑誌『クィア・ジャパン』(勁草書房)責任編集(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

自分が男であるとか女であるとか異性愛者であるとかいったことは、
おそらく多くの人（マジョリティ）にとってあまりにも当たり前の
ことです。
本書の内容は、性的マイノリティの人たちと伏見さんの対談集です。
大変ざっくばらんな対話で、性にまつわる現象がホント入り組んだ
ものであることが伝わってきました。
大学ではセクシュアリティ研究がさかんですが、入門書として本書
を読むのもいいかもしれません。変態（クイア）とは、そもそも差
別用語だったのですが、性的マイノリティの人たちが、差別を逆手
にとり、自称のために用いるようになった言葉です。

さて、本書は「性に関する当たり前」が当たり前に思えなくなる契
機を与えてくれるかもしれません。自明視していたことが、必ずし
も正しくないとわかった瞬間は、悪いものではありません。「目か
らウロコ」が落ちるかもしれませんよ、ということです。

最近、すっかり伏見本にはなっている私ですが、この「変態入門」はなんていうか「性の多様性」という一言では言い表せないような、性の奥深さを体験できます。
私みたいな平凡な性を生きている人間からすると、（言葉は悪いけど）ちょっと奇想天外な方々なんですが、共感できることも多いし、自分のことを振り返る材料になります。
対談としてもスリリングで、予定調和で話しを終わらせていないところが、インタビュアーの力量ですね。
頭がくるくるしてきます、きっと。
