内容紹介

まさに"神"ジャケ!~大好評!ディラン紙ジャケ第3弾4タイトル!

1975年作品。1966年にオートバイ事故にあったディランは活動を休止しウッドストックで半ば隠遁生活を送っていました。謎めいたこの時期に(1967年4~10月)、ザ・バンドと共にビッグピンクと呼ばれた家の地下室でプライベート録音したのがこの19枚目のアルバムになります。本来は、音楽出版社に送るデモテープとして録音したものでしたが、ブートレッグとして広く出回るにつれ、ファンの間では正式発売が熱望され、録音からおよそ8年を経て陽の目を浴びます。当時70曲あまりを録音したと伝えられていますが、今作には24曲が収録されました。休養しながらも旺盛な制作意欲で素晴らしい曲を作り続けていた60年代半ばのディランを伝える作品でもあります。

'09リマスターの輸入デジパックは、日本ではオリジナル･アナログを完全再現する形で発売される事になりました。輸入デジパック盤には、未発表写真を追加した16頁冊子が付いています。それが何と、この紙ジャケ日本盤にも付属されています。勿論 日本語解説･英詞を掲載した32頁冊子も別添されています。
これを期に買替えても、損は無いでしょう。

本リマスター盤の音質向上を手放しで喜んでいる人もいるようだけど、俺にしたらまだまだだ。
その根拠は"Genuine Basement Tapes Vol1〜5"を聴いているからだ。あっちでは、左チャンネルはディランのボーカル、右チャンネルでホークスの演奏でミックスされている。演奏途中での会話や、テープのつなぎ目の音なども挿入されていて臨場感が凄い。音の迫力も全然違う。この公式盤の音源も当然上記ブートに全部（ザ・バンド単独曲を除く）入っているのだけど、そんな訳で全部あっちの方が上だ。本盤ではわざとステレオ（２チャンネル録音）をモノラルに替えていて、地下室で録音したかのように（ザ・バンド単独曲はすべてスタジオ録音）霞みをかけて音質を下げてある。いくらディジタルリマスターされたといっても、元からのマスターが酷いのでどうにもならない。
俺の言うことが嘘だと思うなら、ブートを聴いてみな。絶対ぶっ飛ぶよ。
Music Historyが出たときにPeople's Musicからリリースが予告されていた"Complete Basement Tapes"は一体何時になったら出るのだろうか？ＣＢＳソニーが潰しに入ったのだろうな多分。
