   1993年にモーニング誌で連載され、カルト的な人気を博したものの絶版になっていた長編作品の復刻版。杉元伶一の原作による物語は、議会制民主主義体制崩壊後、クイズに勝てば願いがかなう「国民クイズ体制」に移行した日本を舞台に展開する。

   国権の最高機関「国民クイズ」の番組に出演し、勝ち残れば殺人でもエッフェル塔の私物化でも合法化される、「あなたのための全体主義」の世界。ほとんど荒唐無稽とすらいえる設定だが、その設定を大前提に構築された世界の中で複雑にうごめく人々を徹底的に描写することで、中途半端なリアリズムを超越した濃密な勢いが生み出されている。表情豊かでポップな加藤伸吉の独特な描線も、いい意味で漫画っぽいこの物語の奇想天外な魅力を増幅させることに貢献している。

 「国民クイズ」および同番組放映中に差し込まれるCMの描写の過剰なばかばかしさは、風刺のための風刺ではなく、あくまでエンターテイメントのための毒づき。状況設定や世界観の説明を兼ねる見事なオープニングから、怒涛のようにクライマックスに向けて転がっていく物語とその描き方が巧みだからこそ、さまざまな問題提起も嫌みなく興奮と同時に伝わってくる。これぞ良質な問題作。打ち切り気味のやや唐突な終わり方には賛否両論あるだろうが、とにもかくにもこの圧倒的な熱量はすごい。はてしない欲望の果てにあるものは、はたして何か？（横山雅啓）

（「ヤングマガジン」連載とありますが、「モーニング」の間違いです）

連載当時はあまり話題にもならなかったが、この作品は連載時にリアルタイムで読んでおり、「極論」の痛快さと恐ろしさを感じた。バブル時代の日本の行き着く先なのでは、と感じ怖くなった。人間の欲望を満たすにはクイズに正解すること。あたれば法律だって変えられる。世間でまかり通っている政治や経済の常識をあざ笑った、「みんなの全体主義」。毒のある作品ですので、読むときには心の準備を。
