三島由紀夫の奇想天外な娯楽小説。
『不道徳教育講座』や『三島由紀夫レター教室』のお好きな方にはお薦め。

小説なので多くは語るまい。が、私は主人公には当初の調子であくまでも、ニヒルに行って欲しかったが・・・。
途中から、すっかり主人公のファンになってしまって、（否、ファンというより最早、恋心に近いものを感じてしまって）只々、手に汗を握ってしまった。

ちょこっと出て来る猫に関する表現が、如何にも猫好きらしい。
冒頭のゴキブリの表現も秀逸。

三島由紀夫というと純文学が主流ですが、通俗的小説もおもしろいです。軽く読めて、小説の後半になってくると人間心理を上手に描き出しています。＜命売ります＞は、最後の３ページがいいです。三島由紀夫の全集にはときどき、このような小説があります。驚くべきは女性誌に載せていたものもあり、題名はわすれましたがかなりおもしろかったのを覚えています。

三島由紀夫を「堅い／重い／すごい／辛い」と思っている人に読んでもらいたい作品。金閣寺など、徹底的に芸術性を重視した作品のイメージが三島由紀夫を支えているのは事実ですが、本物の作家がエンターテイメントを描けば、ここまでオモシロいんだ！と楽しめます。「永すぎる春」もそうですが、三島って、こんなに笑えるユーモアもあるんだ。というくらいです。しかし、「命売ります」はセンスがいい。
最初から最後まで、夢中で一気に読めます。三島ファン以外の人なら、「命売ります」と「憂国」と「潮騒」を同時に読んでみるのもいいです。三島由紀夫の才能の引き出しの多さにも驚きますが、よくもこれだけの感情を保有しているものだと感心させられます。しかし、混乱するかもしれません。
