本書で復刻し収載した地図は、戦前に日本統制地図株式会社から発行された東京区分詳細図及び東京都・各区史資料などに準拠してあらたに描き起こした版である。復刻に際して、区分図によって異なる縮尺を8千分の1(一部9千分の1・1万分の1)の統一縮尺に変更した。また、全35区のうち、東京市の中核となる旧15区について3図~5図に分図して掲載し、郊外への発展が著しい新7区についてそれぞれ区内の主要地域を各1図で掲載した。古地図に対応する現代図も、すべて同縮尺で同じ範囲を囲み、戦前と現在の東京を一目で対照することができるようにした。

昭和16年編纂の「大東京三十五区詳細図」のうち15区の全図と7区の部分図を復刻。戦災で都市機能が崩壊する以前の懐かしい東京の姿を窺い知ることができる。市電・乗合自動車路線・町名索引も収録。
