英語だと義和団のことを「Boxer」と呼んでいるんですが何でなんでしょうか？
ネットで検索しても分かりませんでした。
義和団が拳法の訓練をしているからなのでしょうか。

最後に駐留米兵の落しだねの娘がヘストンに付いて行きますがこれは「中国人は反抗しないでカワイコぶってアメリカ（というか列強）の言うことをきいていなさい」というメッセージなんでしょうか。

母にそう言ったら「考えすぎだ」と笑われました。

義和団の乱、戦前の日本では北清事変と呼ばれていた清朝の首都、北京での動乱を舞台にした映画。テーマ曲は『ナバロンの要塞』『ジャイアンツ』のディミトリー・ティョムキン。アメリカに行きたがっている死んだ戦友の娘を ”Here! Take my hand!”と海兵隊長チャールトン・ヘストンが養女として受け入れるラストが感動的である。ただ歴史的事実として認識しておかなければならないのは、動乱の真の主人公がデヴィッド・ニーヴンの英国でも、ヘストンの米国でもなく、最大兵力を派兵した日本、そして事件終結後も満州から撤兵しなかったロシアであることであり、また居留民の救出が目的だったはずの列強連合軍が北京占領後に暴行、略奪の限りを尽くしたこと、そしてほどなく日露戦争が勃発したことである。
