谷川 浩司
昭和37年4月6日、兵庫県神戸市の生まれ。48年、5級で若松政和七段門。50年初段、51年四段。45年、昇降級リーグ3組に昇級して五段になって以来、毎年昇級昇段、57年八段、59年九段。58年度、第41期「名人戦」でタイトル戦初登場にして名人位を獲得。平成3年、第32期「王位戦」と第4期「竜王戦」でタイトルを防衛。第59期「棋聖戦」と第41期「王将戦」でタイトルを奪取し四冠王となる。9年、第55期「名人戦」で名人位を奪取、通算5期獲得で「十七世名人」の資格を得る。19年、第15回「達人戦」(非公式戦)で4連覇。14年、特別将棋栄誉賞(千勝達成)。「将棋大賞」は第13、15、18、19、25回最優秀棋士賞、第31回升田幸三賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

詰将棋と受験の数学って非常に良く似ていると思います。
・初見の問題は非常に苦労する
・易問、難問がある
・正解がある
・本番(実戦)では制限時間がある

であるならば、アプローチ方法も同じであると予測が立ちます。

受験の天才、将棋の天才であれば
“思考”
することで解けるでしょう。そういう人が東大で数学科へ行ったり、プロになったりするのだと
思います。

そうでない人は、ある程度のパターン(解法、手筋)を覚えて、その組み合わせで
初見の問題に挑むということで上達できるはずです。

私は受験生時代、数学はそれでクリアしました。天才ではありませんでしたが、
数学だけは偏差値７５以上は安定して取れました。同じアプローチ方法が使える、
物理、化学も偏差値７５以上とれます。

詰将棋に関しても、まだ知っている手筋が少ないうちは、難問の本書は手も足も出ないと思います。
最初の数問を解いてみてほとんどできないのであれば、本書の前書きにもあるように、
解答を見てしまうというのも有効だと思います。
解答を見て覚えてもいいので、最終的に本書がスラスラ解けるようになったら、
他の詰将棋問題を今度は考えて解いてみましょう。かなり楽に解けるはずです。

そうなれば、アマの初段くらいにはいっているのではないでしょうか？

凡人は無理に本書を考えて解こうとして挫折するより、
本書一冊を答えを見て覚えても、他の詰将棋が解ければいいと割り切った方がいいと思います。

１１手詰め以上の詰め将棋は珍しい。谷川先生の久しぶり
の本が出たと喜んだが、アマ２段以上じゃなくては、解く
のは難しいかもね。巻頭に分からなかったら、解答をみて
覚えてもいいと書かれているから。谷川先生も上級者を意識
して出版したみたいです。中級者の私などにはちと難しくて
解く意欲がなくなる。解答を見て覚えるのもね？自分がふが
いない感じがするし。どのようにこの本を活用するか考えて
います。この詰め将棋の本がすらすら解けるなら、アマの
県大会にぜひ出場してください。
