元素なんてどうだっていいじゃん。
著者の声であり、みんなもそうでしょう。

スイヘイリーベボクノフネ、なんてなつかし語呂合わせを思い出しました。
縦列もありますが、男子校だったためかかなりお下品なので省力します。

語呂合わせとおなじように、無機質だった元素が、キャラクターとなり物語を作ります。
ここからお勉強をはじめてもいいですし、キャラクター本としてもかわいいですよ。

数学や物理・化学が嫌いな人は、そのma=Fなど、数式と文字式が身近に感じるところができる前に、

諦めてしまう人です。つまり、数式に異常なまでの苦手意識をもっている。



かつて私も薬剤師を目指していたので、化学を勉強していたことがあります。



しかし化学がどうしても好きになれません。

物理は数式から運動をイメージしたりできるのに、

化学の CH3COOHなんて、記号の羅列にしか見えなくて、

イメージできないことが原因でした。



そんなとき、もし本書があれば、そんな意識が変わっていたかもしれません。

本書は、１１８個の元素をイラストレーターの寄藤文平さんが、かわいい？キャラクターにしてしまった本です。

(大人たばこ養成講座、地震イツモノートなどで有名ですね。)





そしてここからが本書の肝心なところなのですが、周期表はその名の通り、規則性があります。

その規則性が属といわれるものですが、その属をキャラクターの髪型で表現しています。



たとえばアルカリ金属は「金属なのにやわらかい」ため、くるっとしたナンパヘアーとなっていたり、

希ガスは「他の元素とほとんど反応しない」ため、また気体であるところからアフロヘアーになっています。
面白くて、時間をわすれて読んでしまいます。

自分は文系出身なので、いまさら元素なんて・・・って思ったけれど、
書店で見かけてパラパラと見てみると・・・
「お、面白いっ！」
元素って高校生の時は「とにかく覚えなきゃいけないツマラないモノ」って認識しかなかった。
でもこれは単純に絵を見ていて面白い。

そして、ちゃんと文字も読んでいくと学生時代は苦手だった元素と周期表のコトが
スルスルと理解できちゃう！
高校生の時にこの本に出会っていたら、本当によかった。
だって、本当は理系（農学部）に行きたかったのに、化学が苦手で断念したから。
ま、「いまさら」なんだけど。
でも今、学生の人がこの本に出会えればラッキーだろうなぁ。

僕は友達とこの本を読みながら、「どのキャラが好きか」とか話して盛り上がってます。
ちなみに僕は「水銀」が好きです。
