I have never seen such an informative book like this in Japan on adults with developmental impairments(DI). Mr. Umenaga indicates the details of difficulties most adults with DI have faced. Finding their suitable jobs is harder than they have expected and lots of them need adequate support. There are still few chances to get suitable jobs and work as long as possible. Recently, we have seen more job ads for impaired people in job employment security offices and every job employment security office has employees dealing with the impaired. The trouble is we have found it extremely hard to get suitable jobs for DI people, which often irritates DI people and even advocates. The major reason is that too many companies are unaware of DI yet. Chances are many people with DI are thrown out of work quite easily because their bosses and coworkers tend to have ignorance and prejudice against them. I want typical people(neurotypicals or NTs) to know more about disappointing situations, but unfortunately most NTs still don't take it so seriously enough. No wonder most DI people have frequent job changes.
Finally, I would like to recommend this informative book to NTs as well as advocates and people with DI. Read this if you have friends with DI in order to get rid of ignorance and prejudice against them!
