　本書はタイトルそのままに、不倫の恋で苦しむ男たちの姿をレポートしたもの。それぞれに不倫相手との出会いから恋に落ちて、苦悩する様子も書かれていますが、不倫で得たものと失ったものについてもインタビューから、不倫によって何を考えて何を悩んでいるかを引き出しています。不倫について書かれているレポートは数多く見かけるものの、その殆どが女性を対象としたものだけに、男性を対象とした本書は内容に新鮮さを覚えましたが、不倫で苦しむ男性の苦悩の様子は読んでいても、ズシリと重く感じました。不倫の結末に残されるものはそれぞれに違うものの、決して幸福だけが残るものではないことは改めて痛感させられる一冊です。

インタビューをもとに書く、という手法はとっても説得力あって感銘を受ける。特に直接引用の箇所はまるでご当人たちの叫びを聞くよう。

でも、続編「不倫の恋で苦しむ女たち」「同妻たち」と比べるとはっきるするのは、あまりにも視点・善悪の基準が「女より」だということ。客観的には同じことでも男がすると「身勝手」で、女がすると「愛らしい」ことになってしまう。それにあまりにも多い「女性にとっては・・・」という書き方。自分ひとりの感じ方をそこまで一般化されると少し疑い深くなってしまう。
「不倫の恋で苦しむ夫たち」を書くつもりはないみたいだが、この姿勢ではそもそも出せないかも。

私自身、現在妻帯者の人と恋愛してます。男の人が自分の妻以外の人に恋愛した時の感情、そして本音。妻も子供も大事、でも彼女の事も守りたい、そんな恋愛している男性の意見や体験談はとても救われました。

自分自身で勝手に順番をつけて、いつかは終わってしまう恋愛なんだろうなぁと刹那的に自分を置いてセーブし、とてもマイナスな感情でいました。でも、彼も辛い夜を過ごす事があるって言う事、会ったときは私と同じ位幸せな気分になっていてくれてる事、既婚者との恋愛で辛いのは女性側だけでは無いと言う事を教えてもらいました。

でも、ただ恋愛している、だけで済まされない問題もでてくるのだな、とも思いました。リアルな話ばかりなので、いろいろ自分と彼との事を置き換えてみると複雑でしょう（笑）
