小柄で入門当初も身長が足らず頭頂部にシリコンを入れてまで力士になった男の物語。力士暦は長いものの成績は決して芳しくなかったが朝青龍に相撲を教え未だに慕われる男の数字に表れない相撲に対する貢献度をあなたにも読んでいただけたら嬉しい。まさに相撲バカ、４６歳までまわしをつけるなんてすごすぎます。

著者はフリーアナウンサーで一の矢の大学時代の友人。けっしてうまい文章ではなく、流れもいまいちであるが、一の矢という人物像をなんとしても読者に伝えようという熱意が伝わってくる本。同世代のサラリーマンとして、いままでの自分自身の仕事をふりかえり、考えさせられた。はたして自分はこれまで何を続けてきて、何を成しただろうか。主人公の第２の人生にエールを送り、心のライバルとしたい。
