5.0 out of 5 stars 崇高なるたったひとつの望みを携えた戦士の叙事詩, 2005/9/20
海賊モノという事でワンピースの名が出てきてしまうみたいだが、全く別物と考えていただきたい。ワンピースは冒険譚だがこのVINLAND SAGAは叙事詩である。マークトウェインとジャックロンドンでは目指すものが違う。この物語は父を殺した相手に付き従い“北方の蛮族”バイキングとなった狼のような瞳を持つ少年の成長と復讐の記録なのだと思う。たったひとつの目的の為に己を磨き、守るものは己の身ひとつであるが故に強くあり続ける事ができるという潔い生き様に感服する。
1巻では屈強な戦士としての猛者ぶりを見せる彼の現在と、父や家族との思い出をたどる過去の記憶が描かれている。当時の食文化や奴隷と領主のあり方などよく調べられていてためになる。歴史書のような重みを感じつつそのあたりも楽しんで頂きたい。
作者はどうも遅筆らしく、読み手としてはどうにもおあづけを食らってしまう時も多いのだが、遅筆は世に天才と言われた人に多い傾向。鳥山明も江口寿もそうだった。作品を量産しなければならないシステムの日本にあって叩かれても仕方がないのだろうが、悪口何するものぞ。彼の作品は芸術である。目をつむっていただきたい。

少年漫画誌で連載されていながらも、青年漫画的な魅力に溢れた作品。

週刊少年マガジンでの衝撃的な連載開始（第一話が８０ページ以上も！）
が印象深かったのですが、あらためてコミックスでまとめ読みしても、最高ですね！！
描写の細かさ、迫力、勢いが並じゃないです。

ヴァイキングには個人的に興味があって、以前からチラホラと資料を
集めていたのですが、この作品は、細かな部分まできちんと描写されているので、
１コマ１コマに注目してしまいます。
剣の形状や、服装や、食事風景などなど、何気ないシーンまで丁寧に描かれていて素敵です。

前作「プラネテス」で類稀な力量を世間に示した幸村誠氏の最新作。
北方民族・ヴァイキングを題材とした、近年の少年漫画誌ではあまり見かけない骨太な歴史大作です。
重厚な戦闘シーンや壮大なストーリーも魅力ですが、登場人物の服装や武器、食事風景に至るまで細微に渡って
丁寧な歴史考証が行なわれています。
素晴らしいの一言。
万人受けする漫画とは言い難いですが、後世に残る名作です。
