バンドの中核トレモンティがギターを弾きまくっており、大変気合が入っているのが伝わります。が特にギター好きでなければ過剰に聴こえるかも。歌メロは新メンバー、ケネディが元クリードのメンバーより年上ということもあり、多少センスが古臭く聴こえます。しかし技術があり高音も相当出て、さらに安定感があるのでいい。マーシャルは以前通り、フィリップスのドラムに至っては数段腕前が上がっています。

クリードよりいいと思う方がいるかもしれない一方、アメリカでは一週目にCDを75万枚出荷したというのに、現時点で40万枚程度しか売れていない。シングルも3曲切っていますが、デビュー曲以外はあまりぱっとせず。それらが悪影響を及ぼしているのか所属先であるWind-UPやバンド内での揉め事もちらほら。激しいギターでハードロックファンに訴えかけたいのか、昔のようにより多くの大衆に訴えたいのか、獲得すべきファン層が定まっていないフシがある。セカンドではうまく進めてほしいものです。

CREEDは静と陰を、そしてALTER BRIDGEは動と陽を体現していると私は思います。
前者は静かなる日陰の中から沸き立つような激情を、後者からは動じない太陽からの恩恵を。

どちらも魅力的な音楽には違いないです。
雨の日にはCREEDを聴き、晴れの日にはALTER BRIDGEを聴く。
そう、私が言いたいのは二人のVOCALの違い、そして本質。
当ALBUMの太陽の如く輝く未来への布石……‥。

5.0 out of 5 stars 最上級のアメリカン・ハード・ロック, 2005/4/19
「グランジの化石」「クリスチャン・バンド」「グラスルーツ・ゴスペル」…な~んて、よく分からない謳い文句で、世界中で売れに売れたクリード。結局、幅広い年齢層に受け入れられた彼らの楽曲には、どこか“癒し”の力があったのかな。個人的にも、解散したときには、かなりショックでした。
でも、このアルター・ブリッジ!!　
元クリード組がＶｏを新しく迎え入れた形のバンドだけど、最高のアルバムを作って戻ってきてくれました。もろエディ・ヴェダーなスコット・スタップの包み込まれるような声も魅力的だけど、この新Ｖｏ．マイルス・ケネディーは歌い廻しがロック寄りで、かなり熱い!!　
楽曲もクリードの王道パターン、バラード調でサビに盛り上がるタイプの曲が多くて、もう涙もの。クリード３作目『ウェザード』では、マーク・トレモンティがベースも兼任してて、ブライアン・マーシャルのうねるベース・ラインが聴けなかったのが残念だったけど、今回は楽器隊３人が、それぞれに魅力を発散してるし、本当に言うことなしです。
バンドの公式サイトでライブの映像を見たけど、楽しそうに演奏するメンバーの様子を見て、クリードの解散も良かったのかなって思えるようになってきました。
あとは、もうすぐ出るはずのスコット・スタップのソロ作に期待!!
