ネットで知りあった若者同士の恋。。。これだけを書くと、まるで今どきの恋で、事実、今ではネット上の出会い系サイトで知り合って、付き合って、結婚して、も決してまれではないだろう。
この話の面白いところは、もちろん、その今どきのシチュエーションの恋を扱ったと言うことではない。
その恋が、実にオーソドックスなんだなぁ。

ああぁ、時代は変わっても、シチュエーションは変わっても、恋は、若者は、男と女は、同じように悩み、喜び、ぶつかり、するのだなぁ。
その初々しさに、その不器用さに、年長者として思わず微笑みながら、しかし、微妙なズレを感じる。
あるいい未それからが本番で、二人に隠された、さまざまな背景があかされていく。
まだ２０代全般の若者にも、多くの歴史が有り、抱える重荷がある。
二人して、その重荷に向き合って、さらにぶつかって、時に傷つけて、進んでいく。

今どきのシチュエーションに、オーソドックスな恋をからめ、さらにもう一つ、身体的、家族的な背負うものを加え、物語は最初の印象と全く異なって、しかし非常にまじめに、若者らしくひた向きで進んでいく。

とても好感の持てる、すがすがしいよい作品でした。

恋愛小説としても良く描けてますが、何より聴覚障害というものを良く調べて書いていると思います。聴覚障害者として日常生活でどういう不便なことがあるかとか、その不便さを一般人はどの程度気付いてあげられるか等をひとつの恋愛物語の中に上手に織り込んでいます。

私自身、聴覚障害者ではないものの、内臓疾患の障害者であるため、障害を持った上で男性と付き合うということに気持ちが入り込んで、「そうそう、そうなのよ。そう思っちゃうのよ」などと、また男性側の気持ちも、「あぁ、こんな風に受け取るんだ」なんて思いながら読みました。

物語中の二人のやりとりは、かけひきをしながらも、お互いを思いやっていて、ずっと涙ぐみながら読んでいた感じです。

忘れられないライトノベル。
ふと、その感想をネットで検索した伸行は
あるブログにつづられた感想に惹かれ、メールを送る。
ブログの主、ひとみも伸行に返信をくれ、
共通の趣味を持つ二人は急速に親しくなった。
やがて現実でも会いたいと伸行は思うが
ひとみはある理由から、会うことを恐れていた。

本気の恋愛小説です。
この著者さまの「図書館戦争」シリーズや「海の底」などに比べ
伸行とひとみの心のやりとりがお話の軸である本書は
激しいアクションはないけれど
軽やかな読み口とずっしりと重い何かを伝えてくれる本でした。
現実的なことしか起こらないから、心に感じる痛みの種類はリアルで
ある意味、いちばん痛かった本かもしれません。
ひとみが持つ障害、伸行の過去。
誰もが痛みを抱える中、わかりあうのは難しく、煩わしいこともたくさん。
それでも手を離せなくて、傷つけ合いながら、わかろうとする。
ひとみに、伸行に、無理解な他人に、
少しずつ自分を重ねながら読ませていただきました。

この『レインツリーの国』は
『図書館内乱』の作中に登場するお話で
表紙にも登場しています。
