　「頬に夜の灯」がとにかく好きだ。この曲でオブリガードのフレーズを吹くデビット・サンボーン。サンボーンが入るだけで曲にしまりが出る。例えばスティービー・ワンダーの『トーキング・ブック』に収録されている「チューズデイ・ハートブレイク」なんかもサンボーンが大きく貢献しているけれど、これもサンボーンの名ソロの一つだと思う。
　アルバム全般については、アレンジ面ではデビット・フォスター影響を感じるため、日本人特有のオリジナリティを示した『トワイライト・ゾーン』の方を個人的には高く評価するが、よく聴くアルバムの一枚であることには変わりない。名作。

長らく廃盤状態で高値で取引されていたCDのリマスター祝復刻。
1は、タイトルナンバーでまさにきらめく夜の雰囲気でDADID　SANBORNのALTOSAXがかっこいい。2はミディアムテンポでしっとり艶やかなボーカルが映えています。3、吉田美奈子さんのボーカル＆バックコーラスが全面に出ていて、山下達郎氏がHORN＆STRINGSアレンジでバックアップ。4は、スローでちょっとハスキーヴォイスのOKAZAWA　AKIRAさんとのDUET、ハイトーンの美奈子さんのボーカルと息ぴったりの夢心地気分。5はACOUSTIC　PIANOを美奈子さん自ら弾く夜明けの気分に浸れるナンバー。6は、MICHEAL　BLECKERのテナーソロが印象的なちょっとスリリングさも加わり、この時代にこの音楽と思わせてくれます。バックボーカルは達郎氏が支え、まさに豪華な顔ぶれに負けない出来あがり。7は、またしっとり、美奈子さんのボーカルが全面にでている少し切ない歌です。8はこのアルバムではもっともファンキー＆ブギテイストなナンバー。２０年以上前にこんな音楽があったなんて、いい音楽はいつまで聴いても飽きないそんな思いを強くさせてくれる作品です。

やはり「頬に夜の灯」やろね。大昔、美奈子さんがゲスト出演したＦＭ番組で、偶然この曲を聴いて血液が逆流するような感動を覚えた。このアルバムの楽曲は全部良い。セクシーでゴージャスで、夜のイメージにぴったりやで。日本人にも、こんな鳥肌が立つほど上手くて、奥が深くて味のある歌手がおることを、もっと知ってもらいたいねん。
