アルファムーンの過去２作に比べて、よりビートを利かせた本作品の第一印象は、“透明感”や“鮮度”ではなかろうか。音楽的クオリティの点で八神純子のアルファムーンのこの３作品は注目すべきであろう。なぜこの時期にこういった作品が続いてリリースされたのかは単なる憶測の域を出ないが、高いレベルの音楽へのエナジーがその背景にあると感じざるを得ない。結局、もはや商業化された音楽という世界でも、依然としてアーティスト個人の“思い”が音楽的質を左右するドライバーであるのではないか。

さて、振り返ると前作の“純”ではよりメロディアスな方向性を指向し、その結果“邪魔しないで”、“オペレーター”、“リーチ アウト イン ザ ナイト”などの、象徴的な曲につながったわけである。

本作では、ポイントは、ビートとメロディーの融合にあると感じられる。つまり、前作の延長線上にありながらも、よりそこに鮮明なリズムラインを骨格として取り入れていった、ということではなかろうか。
個人的には本アルバムのハイライトとしては、ルーザー、消えたサイゴンの娘、カメレオンとなろうか。いずれも素晴らしい。

筆者はこのアルバムを発売当時に、予約していた大学の生協に発売日に急いでとりにいくと、間違ってカセットテープ盤（いまや考えられないが）を渡された思い出がある。本作、学生時代にこよなく聞いていたが、自分にとって欠かすことの出来ない、そして忘れるはずもないような貴重な作品である。初期から八神純子のファンで??り、かなりのアルバムを所有している筆者にとって、本当に八神純子らしいそして”思い”が強く感じられる曲は、この時期の３作品に収録されていると感じている。まだ、この時期の八神純子を知らない方には是非お勧めしたい。

よって評価は最高の５★を与えたい。個人的には到底１０★位でも足りないかもしれないが。
