大御所藤子・Ｆ・不二雄が自らが楽んで好きなようにＳＦギャグ漫画を描いたら、こんなにも面白くなってしまうのかと狂喜せずにはいられない名作。現在容易に入手できるのはこの文庫だけだが、是非多くの人に読んで欲しい。内容が濃くややキツいところもあるので大人にお勧め。特に哲学的な内容を含む２巻の方が多くの人にとって面白いかもしれない。

数多くのハリウッド映画（監督）が日本のマンガの影響を少なからず受けている事実については今更ディズニーやタランティーノを引き合いに出すまでもないだろうが、この作品の主人公、少年・モジャ公・ドンモの組み合わせからルーク・Ｒ２・３ＰＯを容易に連想することができるし「アステロイド・ラリー」の回での航法のアイディアについては、多くの人がまんまスターウォーズの１シーンを思い出すに違いない。
また「恐竜の星」のプロットはまさにジュラシック・パークそのもの。
もちろん、古典的なスペース・オペラやＳＦについては相似性を語ることすら無意味なこととも言えるが、この作品が６０年代後期に執筆されたことを考えればその先見性は賛嘆に値するし、その後の数多くのＳＦ作品に何らかの影響を与えたと考えても間違ってはいないのではないだろうか。

いくつかのバージョンで出版されているが現在潤沢に入手できるのはコロコロ文庫版のみであろうか。
他に中公愛蔵版があるがコミックスであれば２~３巻となるものを一冊にまとめているしＦ先生による解説も収録しているのでコストパフォーマンスは決して低くはないと言えるだろう。

しかし全ての版において未だ未収録のエピソードがあることも知られている。
未収録のエピソードも収録した形での完全版出版を切に願う。
