この世界は住みづらいと感じているすべての人に贈るファンタジー。
と帯に書いてありますが、まさにその通り。
カルガリという不思議な妖精の男の子モサは、14歳のニートで、学校も働くのも友だちも家族もみんな大嫌いで、何もかもに反発しながら生きていて、どこにも居場所がない。そんなモサが唯一お気に入りの場所、丘のうえで星を眺めていたら、空から女のコが落ちてきて……。というお話。
モサは、ぜんぜん自分とちがうし、そもそも人間でもないのに、めちゃくちゃ感情移入してしまいました。生きてると、ムカつくこと、つらいこともたくさんあるけれど、でもやっぱり生きてることはすてきなことだという気持ちになりました。グッとくるフレーズもたくさんあって、ちょっぴり泣けそうでした。
荒井良二さんの絵もすごいかわいくて（なんと全ページに！）、こんなに豪華なのに、1200円はお得でした。プレゼントとかにもいいかも。
でも、ほんとにオススメです。すごく、よかった。

こんなに文芸書を買うのに発売日を楽しみにして購入したのは、
はじめてです。いや、ほんと。味のあるイラストもたくさんあって、
文字も読みやすい大きさで、装いもすごく可愛い。
読んでみると、素敵で力をもらえる物語でした。
この作者ならではの言葉のセンスも味わいながら読み進められます。
メルヘンなのに学校、家族、友人、社会など、現実味が強くて、身近に感じる。
こういう話って、リアルなだけではカチカチになりそうだし、
メルヘンだけなら分かりにくくなりそう。
見事なまでにリアルとメルヘンのバランスが絶妙でした。

荒井さんのイラストも、カバーの後ろ折り返しに、ナオコーラさん、荒井さんと並んで、モサが登場するという装丁も、とても楽しくてきれい。

だが、話の内容は……今回はよくわからなかった。「カルガリ家の長男、モサは、ニートである。」書き出しは異常に魅力的だが、ニートと反抗的は同意語？　結婚すれば自立したことになるのか？　絵本作家さんとのコラボは、とくに女性作家にとっては夢の一つなのだろうけれど、荒井さんの挿絵がはまりすぎて、言葉の持つ神秘的なパワーが食われてしまったのかもしれない。ムーミンの達観レベルには、ちょっと足りないと感じた。
