　いわゆる「出会い系サイト」で知り合った人達の間でのトラブルが増えている。
トラブルどころか、殺人事件にまで発展しているのが現状だ。
著者であるケイティも、出会い系サイトで知り合った男とメル友になるが、
やがてトラブルに巻き込まれていく。

　ケイティは著書の中で
「こんなことになるなんて、誰も教えてくれなかった。」と書いている。

確かに、インターネットが今ほど普及していなかった当時は予想外の展開だった
かもしれない。しかし、そのテの事件が毎日ニュースになっている今でも、沢山
の女の子たちが次々と被害に遭っているようだ。

　ケイティの甘さは、誰にでも共通するのではないか？出会い系サイトに求める
ものは何なのか？「メル友と会う」時に注意しなければならないことは？
本書は、そんな事を考えるきっかけを与えてくれる。

　私は、メールは（ネットも）便利なものだと思っている。出会い系サイトを利用
したことはないが、ネットで知り合った人達とオフ会をしたり、個人的にメールを
したりもする。上手に使えばネットは世界を広げてくれる。
子供達にも、上手にネットと付き合って欲しい。
