全国約4200校の中から赴任高校を選択し、頂点を目指す高校野球シミュレーションゲームの第2弾。全国のプレイヤーと対戦できる、インターネット対戦モードを搭載したほか、従来の「オリジナルモード」のほか、HP上で繰り広げられた「高校野球道EX勝抜き王座決定戦」の優勝チームなどを加えた「アレンジモード」を追加。また、選手や監督の顔にモンタージュ機能が追加され、各選手の特徴がビジュアル面においてより把握できるようになった。そのほか、選手達の人間模様をリアルに再現した数々のイベントがリニューアルされている。
