人生のどうしようもなさと、そこで生きる若者の生の”生の実感”が伝わってくるようで、心にダイレクトに届く。中盤で人それぞれ悩みを抱えているといった下りは妙に揺さぶられた。薄い青を基調とした美しい映像とともに、画面に表されているのは、アドレッセントながらも精一杯現実と格闘している若者たちの姿である。

香港をドラマティックに表現するのがウォン・カァウェイ監督なら、香港をリアリスティックに描くのがフルーツ・チャン監督ではないだろうか。彼は現代の香港の若者達が持つネガティブな部分とピュアな部分をこの作品「ＭＡＤＥ　ＩＮ　ＨＯＮＧＫＯＮＧ」の中で抽象的表現、音楽、ファッションを使ってかっこ良く表現している。

その映像はとにかく色の使い方がcool!純粋な想いから死を選んだ少女の体から流れる真っ白な血、テレビからもれる青緑の光、夜明けのワインレッドな空、女子高生の白い体操服、廊下の長い影、サングラスから見るイェローの景色。映像とアジアン・テイストのハイテンポな音楽の組み合わせも憎いほどキマッテるが、主人公を演じるサム・リーの演技とパンクファッションにも大注目！

ストーリーももちろん良いが、この映画に含まれるもの一つ一つにしびれる。「ＭＡＤＥ　ＩＮ　ＨＯＮＧＫＯＮＧ」は‘清涼飲料水でドラッグを飲む’感覚でポジティブとネガティブを同時に感じられる映画である。

私はこの映画には、単なるラブストーリーではなく、むしろ香港の貧しい人々の苦しさ、若者の将来に対する不安など、いろいろな社会への不満などを訴えかける作品だと思った。　私が今まで思っていた香港映画、香港そのもののイメージをくつがえす作品であった。　また、サム・リーの魅力がこの映画の中でみごとに引き出されていて、彼の魅力のとりこになってしまった。　彼のファッションやスタイルの必見。
