内容は、実際にESを導入した経験のある人ならばおおむね感覚でつかんでいることが多いだろう。しかし、ユーザー企業からシステム開発担当まで関連する要素をすべて洗い出し、明快にまとめられているため、新たな発見も多い。
なお、本書は主としてアメリカの企業を想定して書かれている。アメリカ企業はシステム導入の際、ハード、ソフト、インテグレーターと個別に契約を結ぶ傾向が強く、比較して日本企業はシステムを導入する際に一括して契約する場合が多い。これは、ES導入プロジェクトのチーム編成の選択幅に影響を及ぼしていると考えられる。たとえば、業務プロセス設計、その効果を図る専門チーム、導入チームの3つが分けられていないケースはざらだろう。また、プロセスオーナーは置かれず、スーパーユーザー同士の部門間調整で代替することが多い。これらは、日米の企業組織、文化の違いから生まれてくるものであり、本書を読みこなす際に日本向けにローカライズしなくてはならない点である。(渡辺 聡)
