　今まで「マンガの描き方」として出版されていた本はＡ４版で2,000円前後が基本だったのですが、このシリーズはＡ５版で1,000円というコンパクトな設計で、描きながら読める本としては最適だと思います。
　最初の１巻目となるこの本はマンガの基本としてまず模倣すること、そしてマンガを描く上での基本事項や工程について書いた後、キャラ表現に関するいくつかの顔や身体の表現方法について解説があり、最後に実践例としての数枚の原稿が例示されています。
　この「解説→表現→実例」の構造は今まで読んできた「描き方」の本と変わらないので、今までに購入したことがある方には無意味かもしれません。
　それ以前に「モノにするには数千枚描かないと……」的な解説もあるので、結局はこのシリーズを読んで、実際に自分の書きたいものをどれだけ描くことができるかなのだと思います。

表紙の絵柄は確かに今風、といった感じでしたが、
中の絵柄は昔の塗り絵の様な絵があったりとバラつきが酷く、
とてもこれからの次代を描こうという姿勢の本では無いと感じました。
価格を見れば妥当な内容だと思います、が。
この本は浅く広く、「真似をしよう」から始まり、風景の描き方、
トーンの張り方など載っていますが、どれも中途半端に終わります。
本当に絵を描こうと思い始めた超ビギナー向け、でしょうか。
（トーンに到っては削りなどの技法も載っておりません程度でした）
少しでも絵を描いて、トーンに触れていたりする方なら買う必要のない本です。
ただ、何から始めたらいいか分からない、という方にはお勧めします。
真似から入るというのはオリジナリティを潰しそうで個人的にはお勧めしませんが
上達の度合いだけ見れば早いものがありますので…。

絵やマンガを書くことが趣味である私は、この本が売られているのを見て、
さっそく購入しました。この本には、いろいろとマンガの描き方などのことについて
勉強になることがたくさんあって、とても買って良かったなあと思いました。
他の巻もとても参考になりますよ。
