2003年のツールは1998年のパンターニＶＳウルリッヒ以来の
盛り上がりを見せたツールだった。
ウルリッヒがビアンキに移籍せず、アシスト豊富なドイチェ
テレコムに残留していたら、果たしてアームストロングの５
連覇はあったかどうか。

そんな面白いツールだったのにこの映画の主役のドイチェ
テレコムは、総合争いの蚊帳の外。ペタッキやオージーの
スプリンター台頭から往年のマイヨベール常連のザベルの
存在かもかすんでいる。そのせいか、ザベルをはじめとして
出てくるみんなが愚痴っぽい。
ウルリッヒがテレコムにいたら、もっと緊迫感あふれる
ドラマが展開されたんだろうなと思うと、ちと残念。

でも、ツールの山岳の過酷さ(上りも下りも)は十分に理解できます。
また、ベロキの大落車やアームストロングの転倒、雨中の
ＴＴでのウルリッヒの落車と(この年は落車だらけですね)
印象に残るシーンもしっかり盛り込まれています。

ロードレースの予備知識があまり無かったのですが、とても面白かったです。
こんな距離を走るんだ。こんな所走るんだ！？
と、本当に驚きっぱなしでした。
選手のインタビューがかなり長時間含まれていますが、
弱音も含めて選手の生の声がこんなに聞けることはそうそう無いのではないでしょうか。
作りも音楽もかっこよかったです。

満身創痍になりながら、気分の上がり下がりもあっても、過酷な３週間をこなしてゆく選手たち。「今日はいやだ」みたいなことを言って本当に人間らしいです。
また、そのほかのツールのビデオとは違うショットがたくさんあってツールビデオを見てから見ると多分もっと楽しめます。

ただ、後味が“ＮＨＫスペシャル”に似ているのは…気のせい？
