SFシューティングアドベンチャーゲーム「マイクロソフト ヘイロー コンバット エボルヴ」の後継製品。時は、2552年。前作で無事惑星Haloを爆破し、地球へと帰還するマスターチーフ一行。しかし、平穏な時は束の間。地球は突如、地球外生命体コヴナントの襲撃を受けてしまう。戦いの舞台を、惑星ヘイローから地球、新たに発見される第二のヘイロー、コヴナントの都へと次々と移しながら、マスターチーフは地球を守るために戦いへとその身を駆り立てる・・・。
本製品は、マスターチーフを中心とする地球軍と、コヴナント軍が壮絶な戦いを繰り広げた前作の続編となっている。戦いの中で、Haloの真の姿やコヴナントの恐ろしい計画が徐々に明らかになっていく。また、地球軍の立場で侵略者と戦うというストーリーのほかにも、コヴナント軍側の物語も用意されており、コヴナントの兵士の一人として戦う場面も用意されている。また、本製品には、Xbox版では別売りだったマルチプレイ用のマップが収録されていると同時に、Vista版限定として新たに2マップ追加されており、合計23のマルチプレイ用マップがプレイ可能。マップ作成ツールも収録され、ユーザーはオリジナルのマップを作成し、他のプレイヤーとマルチプレイヤーモードで楽しむことができる。グラフィックも向上している。
新たに、DVDをトレイに入れてから90秒以内で、ゲームを起動できる仕組みを導入。また、従来のキーボードやマウスによる操作に加え、Xbox360コントローラにも対応。また、Windows Vista専用製品として、Games for Windows - Liveに対応。Games for Windows Liveは、Xbox Liveと同様のインターフェイスを兼ね備えており、マルチプレイをプレイするマッチメイキングを可能とする。(ゲーマータグを作成しサインインし、無料のシルバーメンバーシップ、有料のゴールドメンバーシップのいずれかを選ぶ必要あり。)

このたびVistaを入れたので、Halo2がやっとできると喜んだんですが…
インストーラーが起動するとまずPCのスペックが足りないと注意されました。ドライバ等を入れたらパフォーマンスの更新を忘れずに。
インストールが終わると、アクチベーションの注意が促されます。ゲームにアクチ！まあいいかと思うと今度はLIVEのIDの作成？
LIVEのIDが無いとゲームに進まないようです。住所・氏名・電話…全て聞かれます。ほかに方法がないか探したんですけど私には見つけられませんでした。ここまでやって初めてゲームが始められます。オフラインのシングルプレイも出来るようになりました。
ゲーム自体は、Haloのまんま続編です。オンラインは試してません。
Vista専用といい、たかがゲームに何故ここまで敷居を高くするのか訳が分かりません。

ＰＣのＦＰＳを色々遊んだことのある人には勧めません。
全体のバランスは優れていますが、特筆できることがないからです。

最近のＦＰＳに求められている要素は全て備えられていますし、
理不尽なシチュエーションもないのでディスクを叩き割りたくなるような衝動は起こりません。

もっと値下がりすればＦＰＳやったことない人にも安心して薦められるんですけどね。

最初のハロを終わらせた後、面白いので二番目も買ってみました。でも、その二番目はすぐ買いませんでした。なぜなら高いパソコンスペックが必要な上にOSがVISTAじゃないといけなかったからです。XPでもできる話を聞きました。ただ、必要スペックが高すぎて自分のパソコンで動くのかどうかわからなかったから少し買うのが遅れました。このゲームはCPU速度最低２．０GH　必要な上にグラフィックカードがないときれいに動きません。自分のパソコンのCPUは２．６GHでちょうどでしたからCPU３．０Gh　とグラフィックカード２５６MbとRAMが１GBから２GBもあればちゃんときれいに動くと思います。星がひとつたりない理由はVISTAのせいです。VistaのOSはまだ出たばかりです。XPを持ってる人のほうが多いのにお金儲けのためにわざとVISTAでしかできないようにして（XPでやるといろいろ問題がある）スペックを最初のハロよりわざと高くないとできないように設定されてるからです。XPのほうがVISTAよりよくできています。グラフィックはとてもきれいです。でも、高いスペックのパソコンをもってない人はもう少し値段が下がるのを待つといいと思います。あせって買うほどのものではありませんでした。
