I am a Japanese and was born in Japan, but I spent most of my time living in the US as a child. I like Poland very much and have been there several times. There are a number of colleges and universities in the US that have Polish language department and I would not think Polish as minor a language as this author or other Japanese would think it is. Thus, when I saw this book, I found it very interesting and rare in a way.
I enjoyed the first part of the book; however, as I read it further, the content has shifted to be a bit more of his criticism on others and has become even more subjective. Also, I found his thoughts not very consistent here or there; one of which is that he first stated that Polish would be considered yet a "major" language from the world languages stats; however, he wounded up saying repeatedly Polish to be "minor." Secondly, he mentioned in chapter 11 that he had screwed up as an interpreter in Mito, Ibaraki while he finds fault with a few interpreters toward the end of the book. I was not able to understand what his intention of writing this book was.
