近くの対象物を無理なく観察
   近距離の対象物にピントを合わせると、それに連動して左右の対物レンズがスライドして中央に寄る、独自開発の「ピント連動対物レンズ位置補正機構」を採用している。近くを見る場合でも左右の視野がほぼ一して、近距離にある対象物でも楽に見ることができる。
   もちろん、スポーツ観戦や旅行、ハイキングといった従来同様の用途にも適している。

最短ピント距離約50cm
   最短ピント距離は約50cmで、従来の当社同等製品の約2m に比べ大幅に短くなっている。

高い光学性能
   マルチコートの採用で不要な光の反射を防止し、良好な像性能が得られる。また、非球面レンズと高屈折率ガラスプリズム（BaK4）の採用で、視野の周辺まで歪みの少ないクリアな像を確保している。

ロングアイレリーフ
   眼鏡をかけたままでも全視野が見やすい15mmのロングアイレリーフになっている。

ラバー外装

なかなか面白い道具です。肉眼と実体顕微鏡の中間を埋める観察ツールでしょう。今までにもギャラリースコープなど、単眼の近距離望遠鏡はありましたが、双眼鏡での立体視はやはり違います。２モデルあるので迷いましたが、視界の広い6.5倍のモデルを選択。届いた双眼鏡は、写真を見て想像していたよりも大きめでした。まだ、あまり活用できていないのですが、小型の自由雲台を付けた軽い三脚を一緒に携帯することをお勧めします。地面に座った楽な姿勢で、眼の高さに固定できたらいいでしょう。視野を固定して、みんなで楽しむためにも必要ですね。

アリの行列の観察が面白かったです。長時間の観察も楽な姿勢で可能です。近づくと逃げる虫も1m程度の距離をあけると自然な仕草を見せてくれます。見ていて飽きませんよ。ファーブルの時代にこれがあったら、どんな発見がなされたことでしょうか。
また、植物の観察用にもよいです。近距離で拡大するとピントの合う範囲（被写界深度）が狭くなるので、背景がボケます。うるさい背景がなくなるので、観察対象がきわだって見えるのです。野草の小さな花など何気なく覗くと、まるで絵葉書の写真のように美しく見えます。

昆虫観察用にPapillioを買った。50cmの至近距離まできちんと焦点が合い、立体視できる。アリのように小さな虫でも大きく観察できて昆虫観察が一層面白くなってきた。単眼鏡でも50cmという距離に焦点は合うが、双眼鏡のほうが遥かに快適に観察できる。

50cmという距離は双眼鏡を手にしてしゃがんで地面を見ても十分に確保できる距離である。小さなごみのように見える虫がはっきり観察できる。いままで使っていた単眼鏡や双眼鏡とは次元が異なる世界を楽しめる。自分が小さな虫になりその目で、外界を覗いているような楽しい世界が広がる。

昆虫観察には、この6.5倍のPapilioと一眼レフカメラを持参するのが個人的な定番装備になった。鳥見から始まった自然観察が対象物がだんだんと小さく近距離になりフィールドでの道具としてはこの双眼鏡にたどりついた。

8倍ぐらいでも、10倍でもあまり、外の景色は見ないので、これを買いました。この夏の中国旅行で撮った写真を見ていますが、結構、面白く見れます。実際普通のサイズの写真を見ると。旅行で見ている気がしてきます。遠距離にも利用しますが。この50センチの距離で、写真以外にも、利用方法はあると思います。私のような虫を観察しない人にも、インドア派にも、アウトドア派にも、役立つと思います。何かいい使い方あったら。レビューを書いてください。
