ロッドに歌われる曲は幸せなんです。
歌の気持ちを理解してくれるヴォーカリストだから。
このアルバムは75年〜95年ぐらいの時期のロッドのバラードものをあつめたバラード集です。ロック・ヴォーカリストでありながら、バラードを歌うロッドの声は絶品です。
＃１〜４がこの作品のためにレコーディングされた新曲で、カバーが中心ですが埋もれていた名曲に新しい生命を吹き込んでいます。
それでもやはり＃５からの往年の名曲は目も眩むような素敵なナンバーばかりです。
ロッドのことは知らなくても、どこかで一度は聴いたことがあるかもしれない
「今夜きめよう 」、「セイリング」をはじめ、エルトン・ジョンの超名曲「僕の歌は君の歌」や
スティング、ブライアン・アダムスとのデュエット「オール・フォー・ラヴ」など中々いい選曲だと思います。
たとえば、ロックというものが好きでない方でも、このバラードでならロッドに触れ合うことも出来ると思いますし、
ロッドに触れるとっかかりとしてはいい作品だと思います。

尚、ＵＳ、ＵＫ、日本とそれぞれ収録曲がちがうので注意。

ロッドのCDはちょこまかしたBEST以外
すべて持っているのだが「僕の歌は君の歌 (ユア・ソング）」
の存在にびっくりした。
このアレンジで歌われたらエルトンもたまったもんじゃあないだろう。

ただのベスト盤と思っていたけれど、頭の４曲と"Your Song"だけのためにでも買う価値あり。
個人的には、初期の名曲"Killing of George"と"I Was Only Joking"、更に欲を言えば"People Get Ready"の３曲が入っていればもう言うことなしです。
