lisp 方言 scheme の解説書です。
簡潔、明瞭で、言語仕様書も付録に載っていて有用です。
日本語で読めるものに限ると必携といえます。
ただし、言語仕様の参照マニュアルに近い本なので
プログラムの書き方を知りたい初心者には向くとはいえません。
そういう方は、サスマンら著の「計算機プログラムの構造と解釈」も
読まれると良いと思います。
なお、scheme 処理系は、mzscheme などフリーソフトがたくさんあり、
いろいろなOSで利用可能です。

schemeは教育用プログラミング言語として歴史がある。 Lisp系プログラミング言語なので応用範囲は広い。 同書にはschemeのプログラムは付属していないが、著者が開発に携 わったschemeを無料でダウンロードすることができる （ウインドウズ版、UNIX版など色々ある）。 このschemeをインストールして、テキストのコードを

試して学習するのがベストだと思う。更に実践的な 目標を定めるなら、グラフィック用フリーソフトウエアのGIMPにスクリプト-fuが採用されている。これがschemeで書かれている。この本で試したら、GIMPのグラフィック用 フィルタをschemeで書いてみるのもいい。 　同書にも書いてあるが、schemeの言語仕様は他のプロ

グラミング言語より簡潔にまとめられている。この為、 プログラミングを学習する人、目的をもってschemeを学習する人には、この本は便利だ。

R5R準拠の標準シンタックス/プロシージャはどのように
振舞うのかを一通り用例で示してくれている点、Little
SchemerやSICPとはまたひと味違ったリファレンスとして
の使い方をすることになり、それはそれで数少ない
Scheme和書の中では貴重だと思います。

Schemeで何か現実的に意味のあるコードを書きたいとき、
通信、DB連携、Web、XML、グラフィックなどの話題は

ネット上のライブラリを探すしかないという現実が待っ
ていますが、それらを使う前提となる文法の書だという
割り切りが本書を読むにあたっては大事です。

Scheme言語の仕様自体それほど大きくはありませんので、
これ１冊持ち歩いていれば標準仕様部分はとりあえず
書いてある、という意味の便利さで星４つです。
