コンピュータを題材にしたSFです。大好きな菅さんの作品ということで手にとりました。
菅さんの作品らしくなく主人公を中心に人物像が希薄な感じがしましたが（それは狙いだという評価もあるようですが）、世界観はなかなかに面白いものがありました。
ただ、最後がなんだか唐突にシメに入っていったような感じ（というよりは世界観の説明のような感じでしょうか）でそのあたりが残念でした。
コンピュータを題材にした作品がお好きな方、菅さんファンの方は読んでみてはいかがでしょうか。

3.0 out of 5 stars スリリングな謎解きに細かいひっかかりが…, 2006/8/24
90年代の終わりに提唱され注目された <某テクノロジ> をモチーフにしたスリリングな謎解き。
人間の作品表現が <類型からどれを選択したか> の範囲に収まっていなければ評価の対象にならない、
という指摘に始まり、<ヒトがどう思ったか> が世界に重要な影響を及ぼすという世界観は、
なかなか優れていると思います。

が、「あなたはまだわかってない」と、いかにもココ伏線ねと言わんばかりの文脈で言われるとちょっと。

テクノロジに関する細かい違和感があり、
2002年時点で既にレガシーだったりダサかったりしたものが
作中で妙にもてはやされていたりします。
（スパコンとかWAREZとか。週刊アスキー読者ならその辺ひっかかったのではないかと。）
まあそこはフィクションなので大目に見るとしても、
日本語としてちょっとヘンに思えるところが散見されたのと、
登場人物の思考や情動の流れにもところどころ不自然に思えるところがありました。

それでも、中盤まではなかなかスリリングに謎解きが進行するのですが、
中盤の終わりの方、181ページの8行目のセリフがどうにも唐突で、
「いずれにしても○○○は×××で確定ね」
(何でそうなるの？？？　私の誤読でしょうか？　全然わかりませんでした。)
このあたりから「ページ数の都合でまとめに入ります」と言わんばかりに押し流されていて、
腰が折れたように感じてしまいました。
どうも釈然としない。
