このミスの大賞受賞作ということで単行本のときから気になっていたので、文庫本になったと知ったとき迷わず購入しました。まだ読み終わっていませんが、途中でやめたくなるつまらなさですね。これが大賞とは・・・。いくらフィクションとはいえ、ご都合主義にすぎるし、ストーリーが大雑把すぎて、全然この世界に入っていけません。状況の描写がいまいちで場面のイメージが湧かないので何度も読み返しては、どういうことかな？って感じです。文庫本でよかったです。それにしてもこれが大賞？？？

主人公はセキュリティ会社の社員。その会社が賞金を賭けて自社のセキュリティ・システムを破るトライアルを開催する。賞金額はなんと1億円。大学時代の友人に誘われ、その社員はトライアルに参加する。着々と準備は進み、本番に向けて緊張感も高まっていく。冒険小説ではあるが、このあたりはクライム・ノベルの雰囲気。
　しかし、そこから物語は複雑になる。主人公の2人に普通でない過去があることが明らかになる。2人はそれぞれ、ある思惑を抱いてトライアルに参加したのだ。トライアルには、なぜかプロの泥棒も参加する。彼らにはまた別の目的があった。そしていよいよトライアルが始まる―。
　前置きだけで実に166ページ。しかし、アクションシーンやクライム・ノベル的な要素も組み込まれていて、飽きずに読ませる。軽妙な語り口と会話も悪くない。そしてトライアルが始まってからは、冒険小説にふさわしく、知恵比べあり、アクションありで楽しませてくれる。
　冒険小説。この響きは、いつも男（特に少年）を引きつけてやまない。トム・ソーヤの冒険、ロビンソン・クルーソー。私たちはその本を手にし、つかの間のバーチャル・リアリティの冒険活劇を満喫する。山を越え、海を渡り、大金を手に入れ、いろいろなスリルとサスペンスに満ちた世界を駆け抜ける。優れた冒険小説は、私たちを未知の世界へいざなってくれる。そこでひととき、人は夢を見て、明日の現実に戻る活力を取り戻すのだ。この作品は、まさしくそんな力を持つ物語のひとつである。

　実はこの作品どんどん読み進むことができた。
　海堂尊の「チームバチスタの栄光」が輝きすぎた。その後光が差しているせいか、「このミス」大賞作品に非常に信頼をおいていた。
　というわけで、迷わず手にしてのがこの「ブレイクスルートライアル」
しかし、残念なことに特に奇抜な仕掛けがあるわけではなく淡々と話が終わってしまった。
　アイデアとしては非常に惹かれるところはあるが、難攻不落な城の攻略が前面に押し出された作品を期待していたので、肩すかしをくらった。
　では、話のテーマは何かというと、それは「友情」

　ということで、この作品はミステリーに分類されるのかな？
