『攻殻機動隊』のテレビシリーズの主に2nd GIGとソリッドステイトソサイエティの脚本を手がけた著者による、『ロボットの哲学書』。
修論が元になっているものの、他のレビュアーが強調しているほど難しいわけではない。わりと肩の力がぬけていて読みやすいと感じたがそれは主観の問題、はたしてどうだろうか。

内容は、人間に近づこうとするロボット／サイボーグを追いながらも、マクルーハンのimplosionのごとく我々の側にもロボット的なものへの近接している側面があるのではないか、それについて身体に密接するデジタルデバイス、およびYoutubeやmixiというようなネット上のコンテンツをもとに分析する野心的論考。アニメやSF小説などのフィクションとの、架橋的な思考実験も楽しい。

『攻殻』のファンはかの作品の脚本家がどのようなことを考えているかを知る上でもちろん、ファンならずとも一読の価値はある著書だと思うが、価格設定としてやはり厳しいものがあるか。

「攻殻」や「新エヴァ」の脚本で知られる櫻井さんの学術本です。
修士論文が元になっているのだとか。

ロボットは、理系の人や、メカ好きな人だけのものだと思ってましたが、
なんで櫻井さんがロボットやサイボーグに魅力を感じているか、そして、
重要視しているか、よく伝わる気がしました。
本当にこういう未来は来る！そういう感じがしました。

ところどころ、文章がユーモアたっぷりなのも好印象です。

難易度は攻殻機動隊を500倍濃厚にした感じです。
はっきり言って全然わかりませんでした＾＾僕が頭わるいだけかな？
でも攻殻ともだちに酒の席で自慢＆小話、小ネタになったのでよかったです！
