　2002年5月にフランスで公開された映画『And Now ... Ladies & Gentlemen』に，パトリシア・カースは「ピアノ・バー」のシンガー役として出演している。このアルバムの制作がこの映画公開と同時になされているところをみれば，セールス・プロモーションの面での相乗効果が期待されていたと推察される。しかし本人の説明では，このアルバムは映画のサントラではなく，あくまでも「ピアノ・バー」のイメージを軸にして，年来の希望であるシャンソンの名曲を唄う点にあるという。

　アルバムの成立事情はどうあれ，このアルバムは楽しい。パトリシア・カースはピアノ・バーのシンガーになりきって，シャンソンの名曲やジャズのスタンダード・ナンバーを，時にけだるく，時に軽快に，ムーディーに，自在に“唄い流して”いく。グラスでも片手に耳を傾けていると，薄暗いバーの闇の中に身を置いているような錯覚に陥っていく。しかも What Now My Love や The Summer Knows では思わずダンスを 踊りたくなるだろう。

　また，音にうるさい聴き手の要求にもそこそこ応えているようにも思う。たとえば，ジャック・ブレルの名曲「いかないで」(If You Go Away) は，まったく別の歌だと思えば楽しく聴けるし，それの remix バーションもおさめられている。当然「癒し」を求めている人にもピッタリだ。ピアノ・バーというのはそういうところなのだから。

最初聴いたときは、いつものパンチというか強さが無いので、ちょっとつまらない、印象が薄いような気がしました。
でもしばらく経った最近は、なんか聴きたくなるのです。
好きになりました。
派手さとか目立つ感じではないけれど、ゆったりとじんわりと、飽きずに聴ける。
たゆたうようにゆったりと流れ、そしてシブイ、大人っぽい曲集です。

タイトルから、初期のころの、いかにも場末のバーに似合いそうな雰囲気のアルバムにもどったのかなあーと想像していましたが、実際にはかなりクール。新しい感じです。個人的には、もうちょっとアコースティックな感じがいいかなあとも思ったんですが、何度も聴いてると、やっぱりイイですね。

夜聴くのがよいです。一日の疲れがとれる感じ。すっかりおやすみ前のBGMになってます。
