WIN95時代から使用していた、ワコムのタブレットを接続するために購入しました。シリアル接続ですのでだめもとで購入してみた側面はあるのですが結果を言えば大成功でした。ドライバも現状の最新ドライバを使用して問題なく動作します。一つだけ不満なのがいかにUSB接続といえどもPC起動後に接続するのはよろしくなく、使用時はタブレットを接続してからPCを起動しなくはならないのですが、そういう物だと割り切れば何の不満もありません。数万円出してUSB接続のタブレットを買い直すよりこの変換ケーブルを購入する方がよっぽど利口です。この商品でタブレットが動作したとはあまり書かれてはいませんが成功例として報告させて頂きます。ワコムのシリアルタブレットをお持ちの方には、この商品は検討の価値ありです。

メーカーはMacintosh対応を謳っていませんが、FTDI社が公開しているドライバをインストールすると、Macintoshでも使用可能でした。

この製品はPCショップで手に入る製品では唯一任意のボーレートに対応しています。
例えば５５５５５ｂｐｓ等という特殊な速度の設定が可能です。
ただし、アプリケーション側で特殊なスピードを設定できる必要があります。

例えば組み込み用機器の開発で、５７６００ｂｐｓなどの標準的な出力が難しい場合
（機器のクロック周波数の関係などで）
等は、本アダプタを使いPCのアプリケーション側で速度を変えるという方法があります。

特殊すぎる用途ですが、RS232Cは手軽にPCと通信ができる手段なので任意の速度の設定が
できるこのアダプタは重宝します。でも、買う人が少ないと絶版になってしまいますので
一般ユーザの方も購入してください。　もちろん、通常の使い方でも問題なく使えます。
