実は同著者の「リアル」でも泣いたことがあります。
この巻の中頃で、今の自分と又八が同調してしまい、涙が溢れてしまいました。 自分は弱いヤツなんだと痛感し、日々苦悩している人なら共感できるはず。 前巻までの武蔵にしっくりこなかったのは、自分は武蔵よりも又八に近い人間だったからでした。
武蔵と一刀斎も気になるところですが、この巻は又八のエピソードに尽きます。 井上先生、この巻も自分の救いとなりました。感謝!

31巻では又八の物語が中心です。
又八の存在は読んでいてカッコ悪くて最低な人間に見えるかもしれないけど
大多数の人間が又八側の人間だと思う。
又八のように見栄をはって嘘をついて後悔して…
それでも少しづつ成長していく。
そんな又八が母親の死というターニングポイントで成長する姿は感動でした。
また数十年後の又八が「最後のマンガ展」の物語とリンクしている部分には驚きました。
更に武蔵と一刀斎との対決…
31巻は今までの中で最も次の巻が待ち遠しくなる内容でした。

以前の「鐘巻自斎編」や今回の「又八編」は、数々の失敗を重ねながらも
必死に生きている現代の社会人に響く物語だろうと思う。

成功者の背中を見ては「いつか自分も」と、認めたくない実力を虚勢で飾り、
故に後悔し続け、やがて疲れ果てていく…。

田舎の実家からの電話にいつも「大丈夫、ちゃんとやってるよ！」と言うあなた。
又八のような「強くあろうとする者」になれますか？
