オンライン上での不正侵入、個人情報の漏洩を防ぐソフト。ファイアウォール機能がフィルタとして動作し、悪質なハッカーなどによる不正侵入、インターネットのメールアドレスなどの個人情報がCookieから流出することを防止ぎ、オンラインのプライバシーを守ることができる。また、ウィザードでユーザーのセキュリティレベルやセキュリティポリシーを設定できる機能や、信頼できるPCまたは自分のPCに対するアクセスを制限したいPCを識別することができる機能、基本的なシステム設計やトロイの木馬の設定を自動的に行う機能などを搭載。今バージョンより、個人情報の漏洩防止機能をさらに強化し、氏名・住所・クレジットカード番号や銀行口座番号などに至るまで漏洩を防止することが可能になった。

　先ず、ファイアーウォールは、未使用ポートを塞ぎ、侵入や攻撃を防ぐためのものだということ。
　ウイルス対策にはアンチウイルスソフトが別途必要になります。　この製品だけではウイルスには対処できません。
　

　最近では、一部の悪質なプログラマーが作成したプログラムが横行していて、私のマシンにも結構不正侵入の試みがあります。　ちなみに、ウィンドウズＸＰのファイアーウォール機能と干渉する恐れがあります。　説明書にも小さくしか載っていないので注意が必要でしょう。

　いずれにせよ、ＳｕｂｓｅｖｅｎＴｒｏｊａｎなどでバックドアを仕掛けられると、有名なＤｏＳ攻撃などの踏み台にされたり、システムファイルが改ざんされたりします。　ウィンドウズを使っているなら、絶対ファイアーウォール、ウイルスソフトは購入した方がいいでしょう。

　もちろん、当たり前ですがウィンドウズそれ自体のアップデートもした方が良いでしょう。

家庭からダイヤルアップするという環境なのですが、インターネット接続するたびに最新のウイルス定義ファイルをチェックする自動アップデート機能がついているので安心して使えると思います。ネットサーフィンしてるだけで感染するようなウイルスが出てきましたから、自動で更新されるのはありがたいです。
