実力も知名度もある、こんなナイスなオヤジたち5人が仮名で組んだスーパーユニット。今、考えてもちょっと信じられない夢の組み合わせ。シールだらけのギターケースが5台並んだバックジャケットもGOOD。

George Harrison（言わずと知れた元The Beatles）
Roy Orbison（ミスター・ヴェルヴェットヴォイス）
Tom Petty（Heartbreakersとやってる時より自由？）
Jeff Lynn（E.L.O.のヒットメーカー）
Bob Dylan（ノーベル文学賞を超える革命家か）

全体的には、5人のキャラクターが絶妙のバランスで融合した仕上がりになっています。それでいて、「Handle With Care」「Heading For The Light」では、Georgeの伸びやかなメインボーカル、「Not Alone Any More」では、Royのヴェルヴェットヴォイス、そして「Congratulations」では、Bobの粘っこいメロディー、という風に、それぞれの個性が活きたナンバーが随所に散りばめられています。
サードアルバムまで出した後、Lefty (Roy)に続いて、Otis (George)も、向こうの世界へ本当にtravelしてしまった今、このユニットから新しい音が聞けないのは何とも残念です。

　まさかこのメンツでグループ結成するとは思ってもみませんでした。
仮面の正体（実際はサングラスしか掛けてないからバレバレですが）は、
ジョージ・ハリスン（Otis Wilbury）、
ジェフ・リン（Nelson Wilbury）、
トム・ペティ（Charlie T.Jnr←いちおうWilburyの親類ということになっている）、
ロイ・オービソン（Lefty Wilbury）、
ボブ・ディラン（Lucky Wilbury）

※私の名前はここからもらっています。

の5人。つくづくロックを聴いていて良かったと思いました。
こんな興奮はロック・ファンじゃなきゃ味わえないですからね。
針を降ろしたときのゾクゾク感は、
今こうしてこれを書いているときも感じます。

以上のメンバーでユニットを組みアルバムTraveling Wilburys Vol１ を発表しました。覆面バンドにした理由は各者契約しているレーベルが違うため、このように通常の名前を出さず、数量も限定され売れ切れた場合は廃盤となっております。従って中古でも１万円以上の値がつき中々手に入れることが困難です。
このアルバムの内容は、５曲目のRoy が歌っているときに他のメンバーが聞き惚れていたようです。私の好みは、１．４．５．６．１０．です。ぜひこのアルバムを手に入れてください。聞き価値のあるアルバムです。ちなみに噂でVOL２があると言われていますが、欧州の１国のみでVOL２が発売しています。Roy とDel Shannon が死んでしまったためお蔵入りにとなっていました。１曲目にDel の Walkaway が入っておりこの曲は、Del の Rock On! の１曲目に入っています。もう一つの目玉は Ｄｅｌ の Runaway が１２曲目に入っている事です。また、Roy Orbison の Mystery Girl は、ボブ・ディラン以外のメンバーが全面バックアップしており、Del の Rock On と Roy Orbison の Mystery Girl をぜひ聞き比べてください。
