イングランド・マンチェスター出身。94年、デビュー・アルバム『Definitely Maybe』で、稀代のソングライター、兄ノエル・ギャラガーの破格に美しいメロディーを唯一無二のラッドなヴォーカルで歌う弟リアム・ギャラガーという兄弟を核にしたこのバンドは、 “オアシス”の名をあっという間に全世界に轟かせた。90年代ブリットポップ・ムーヴメントの代表格であり、ムーヴメント後も英国の国民的バンドであり、世界的な人気を誇るロック・バンド。バンドの核となるギャラガー兄弟は、同じくアイルランド系英国人 ・労働者階級出身であるビートルズを大変敬愛しており、様々な面でその影響を見る事が出来、“現代のビートルズ”とも評される。ロック・スターには御馴染みの幾多のスキャンダルや、“世界で最も話題にのぼる兄弟喧嘩”などとともに、彼らの発言に対しても非難の声が上がることもよくあるが、それらの数々は攻撃的でありながらも機知に富んでおり、世界中のロックファンに親しまれている。

Japanese deluxe two disc (CD + NTSC/Region 2 DVD) edition of the Britpopsters' 2008 album includes two bonus tracks on the audio disc ('Believe In All' and 'The Turning' Alternate Version # 4) plus a bonus DVD that contains the same content as the US/Int'l versions (40-50 minutes of bonus content including the full-length EPK, video and making of video for the first single). Dig Out Your Soul is the seventh studio album from the band and is preceded by the highly anticipated first single 'The Shock of The Lightning'. Oasis is back once again to prove that they are not just only the biggest British band of the past decade, but will remind the world that they are and will be around for the next decade putting out another great rock record. 13 tracks.
