チャイコフスキーの未完成の(と言うか作曲家が完成放棄‥)交響曲の日本初演ライヴ収録。 このチャイコフスキーの未完成交響曲はずいぶん前から噂になり、ボガティリョフ版の全曲版のLPも持っていて聴いていたが(確か1960年代の録音だったか?)はっきり言って魅力に乏しい作品だ。 美しい旋律もあり、チャイコフスキーらしく感傷的ではあるが人を惹きつける魅力に欠けている。チャイコフスキーがこの素材で交響曲の完成を断念したのは大正解だ。完成をさせて、かの「悲愴交響曲」が生まれなかったら音楽史の大損失だ!交響曲の内容は一楽章の「ピアノ協奏曲3番」とタネーエフ補筆の「アンダンテとフィナーレ」を合わせたものとほぼ同じ。同様の「ピアノ協奏曲3番全曲版」の録音を持っているが、ピアノの魅力も加わり曲の出来はこちらの方が上。旋律は美しいが霊感に乏しい交響曲なので、これからも普及はしないだろう。 しかし、西本氏の演奏はなかなかの熱演!チャイコフスキーとロシア音楽を得意とする彼女らしい情熱的な指揮は曲の魅力の乏しさを補って余りある。彼女の指揮振りは相変わらず凛々しくて素敵だ!曲じゃなく、演奏を聞くDVDだなこれは…。

「ジーズニ」大好きな曲です。
世界初演ツアーの映像が残って大変良かったと思います。
また、特典映像の番組（「ジーズニ」世界初演までの過程を追ったドミュメンタリー）がとても良いですね。

まず、ジーズニの世界初演というが、すでにシャンドスからヤルビィの指揮でCDが出ているのだから、西本智美が初演をしたというのは間違いだ。双方のスコアを比べたわけではないので細部まで同じ曲だという断言はできないが、少なくとも第一楽章はピアノ協奏曲第３番をベースにしており、同じ。第２楽章以降もほぼ同じと見てよい。
それを、テレビ局がついて、感動的なエピソードを交え映像化するというのは、商業主義以外の何者でもない。最近のテレビ番組のやらせ、捏造に通じる問題の一枚といってよいだろう。

演奏のほうは、ヤルビィ版に比べ過剰演出が目立ち、個人的には嫌いである。大衆受けを狙った演奏と言ってよい。日本人に人気のあるチャイコの幻のシンフォニーを若い女性指揮者が本場ロシアのオケを振る、という”いかにも”という演出が気にならない人だけのものだろう。音楽的には、ほとんど価値がないと考える。
